PRESENTATION TOPIC:

Creating Value with AI and the Workforce 4.0 Implications

In today’s rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape, industry leaders are being challenged to rethink traditional processes. Technological advancements, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence, are revolutionizing the way manufacturing is performed. At the same time, manufacturers face pressures from a shifting workforce and a changing work environment, forcing constant reassessment of how to move forward.

Dr. Shunk will begin by exploring how manufacturers can harness advanced technologies, such as Generative AI, to create real value. While these technologies can significantly improve operations, it’s critical to remember that “automating a mess remains a mess.” The foundation of success lies in data integrity, and this will be a key focus of the discussion.

In the second half of the presentation, the focus shifts to the workforce. As Intel has identified, “Educate, Attain, and Retain” the knowledge worker is the most important strategic initiative. Technological advancements can only happen if the right talent is in place, so the question becomes: who do manufacturers need, and what skills must they possess? This interactive presentation will gather insights from SAMA attendees using a cutting-edge tool to identify perceived skills gaps, with the data provided to SAMA leadership for future planning.

The presentation will conclude with a discussion on what these developments mean for manufacturers in San Antonio specifically.
